A Turning Point
The inspiration and ideas of a creator are his most treasured assets. Any product that receives a creative treatment generates the author's rights. In Brazil, author's rights are protected by law no 9.610/1998. It is known that artistic creations benefit from this law and cannot be used without the owner's authorization.
The Trapeze necklace that you see here, handmade by jewelry designer Willian Farias, in 18K gold, has a higher value than the originality of its 3D effect or the material used to make it, for it became a relevant precedent in copyright law in Brazil.
The case of the Trapeze necklace set a precedent in an area hitherto plagued by impunity. This video was created to be presented at IDA2017 (ARTRIO) by Memo Gallery Miami to celebrate the wrongs that get righted.

The words spoken on the video were culled from pieces directly related to the Trapeze 3D necklace, from its conception to the end of the legal battle, with the objective of conceptualizing its history.
